Preparing For a Hurricane by Charlotte

hurricanematt

So mommy has lived in Florida for 19 years and is used to the whole hurricane season. Now that Hurricane Matthew might hit Florida, she is kinda freaking out because now I’m here to worry about. I have put together a list of items of things you might want to pick up to prepare for a hurricane:

Water

  1. Mommy left me home with daddy last night while she went out to get hurricane supplies. She came back with NO water. So she started freaking out and filling every empty container we own with city water. Note to self: Don’t blow off the huge hurricane heading your way and don’t wait until the last minute to get something as essential as WATER! She dragged me to four different places this morning with no luck getting water. That is, until we got to Target. We finally got five cases and some non-perishable foods. I won’t need either of those things as I have mommies boobies!

2. Manual Breast Pump or Formula

One of the items mom was able to pick up last night was a manual breast pump. She said we might lose power, so she won’t be able to use her electric pump. No one wants to see her boobs explode during the storm, so I think this was a smart purchase.  It was $40, so I hope she doesn’t have to use it and can return it.

3. Canned Food

I only eat 100% organic, mommy produced milk. But, I guess mommy and daddy need food if the power goes out. So, she picked up some canned food. She also bought condensed milk for her cereal.

4. Flashlights, Candles and touch lights (mom’s fave)

Mom really likes the LED touch lights but candles and flashlights work too during a power outage. Don’t forget batteries to power them.

5. Diapers & Wipes

What goes in, must come out. Make sure you have plenty of diapers in your child’s size.

Other items that mommy got but didn’t take a picture of me with are:

Propane – You can cook on the BBQ.

Ice – This is a hot commodity so buy it while you can get it. A great alternative are freezer packs or freezing jugs of water.

Beer – Daddy likes beer. Mommy bought him Due South Category 5, appropriate for the occasion.

Don’t forget about your fur-brothers and sisters:

Mommy bought extra dog food, some long lasting chews, treats and account for them when buying water.

Well that’s all folks. Stay safe.
